3rd July, 2012 –
Bahrain’s police have discovered more than five tonnes of explosives in warehouses in Salmabad and Hamad Town. According to Public Security the explosives are massively destructive and it reveals the nature of the terrorist activity going on in the Kingdom. Three men were identified on the list of wanted individuals planning for a terror plot.
Protesters have been manufacturing petrol bombs or Molotov cocktails, which are used on a daily basis to attack policemen and disrupt daily life in the Kingdom. Protesters have also been blocking main roads by burning tyres, which produce a black smoke injurious to people’s health.
The use of Molotov cocktails and burning tyres is not new to the Bahraini protest movement. For example; prior to the 2011 unrest, a few years ago a Pakistani resident was attacked in Nuwaidrat area by a protesters who threw Molotov cocktails at his car. The man lost his life following serious burns and the perpetrators were arrested.
The use of explosives increased since the February 2011 unrest. Militias have been established in villages across the Kingdom. These militias often comprising students are being trained in violent methods of protest. They have been successful in terrorizing the general public, which now views them as armed terrorist groups that threaten security.
During a visit by the Bahraini Minister of Interior to the United Kingdom it was decided that a delegation of British police would visit Bahrain to investigate the issue of the explosives, which have been discovered.
